It was a special day for Dingdong Dantes on August 21 because of the 8th year celebration of the organization he founded, the Yes Pinoy Foundation.
In line with this, there was also a celebration and the launching of the “I Am Super” campaign at Resorts World Manila held on the same day.
Dingdong said in his speech, ““Walong taon na po ang Yes Pinoy Foundation. Very significant sa amin ang eight.
“Hindi lang dahil paborito namin, kundi sa aming mag-asawa ay may kahulugan yun.
“Kaya sa pang-walong anibersaryo, gusto namin ng ganitong klase ng programa ang isi-share namin sa lahat ng tao and people close to our hearts,”
The actor started the Yes Pinoy Foundation in 2009. They started giving scholarships, building schools, distributing thousands of seats, and likewise train thousands of youths for disaster preparedness.
According to the Alyas: Robin Hood actor, “Kung mapapansin niyo, nagbabagu-bago at nag-e-evolve din ang concept at program ng Yes Pinoy.
“Yun ay dahil we always respond to the needs. All throughout the years, we also identified one important issue for us to address—yun ay climate change at disaster preparedness.
“Alam naman natin na ang bansa natin ay isa sa mga vulnerable pagdating sa disaster risks, climate changes, at siyempre, not to mention man-made disasters na nangyayari sa mundo natin.”
Dingdong mentioned the number 8 is special to him and his wife.
So PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked Marian what’s so special about 8.
“Ano ba sabi niya?” she asked while laughing.
“Ewan ko sa kanya, ano bang meron sa eight?
“E, kasi raw, ang eight, no beginning and no ending.
“So siguro, sinasabi niya na kahit na anong mangyari, hangga’t kaya niya, e, ie-extend niya ang tulong niya sa ibang tao na hindi magtatapos dun.”
